Installation & Commissioning
-
How do I correctly install my Strateo3D IDEX420?The machine must be placed on a stable surface capable of supporting more than 100 kg, at a recommended height of 80 to 85 cm. It must be installed in a dry, ventilated environment, free from liquid or gas projections.
The particle filter must be installed before powering on the machine (M4 screws supplied, quantity depending on the filter model). -
Can I move the machine on my own?No.
The Strateo3D IDEX420 weighs approximately 100 kg and must be handled using lifting equipment or by several people, exclusively by lifting from the four machine feet. -
How do I connect the machine to the power supply?Connect the machine to a dedicated power outlet protected by a 16A fuse using the supplied C19 power cable. Never use a different cable or an overloaded power strip.
Connection & Software
-
How do I connect the IDEX420 to StratoControl3D?Connect an RJ45 Ethernet cable between the machine and your local network.
The IP address is displayed on the touchscreen under Settings > Network.
StratoControl3D is accessible via a web browser (PC, tablet or smartphone).
For security reasons, access is only possible from the same network as the machine. -
Which operating systems are compatible?MacOS, Windows, Linux, Android, iOS, and any system with a web browser. No software installation is required.
-
Can I send files via Wi-Fi?By default, the available connections are USB and Ethernet.
Materials & Nozzles
-
Which materials can I print with the IDEX420?Characterized materials include: ABS, ACETATE, ASA-X, BVOH, HIPS, PA6, PA6-CF, PC, PC-ABS, PETG, PLA, PVA, TPU98A, etc.
The machine accepts all 1.75 mm filaments. The maximum extrusion temperature is 300°C. -
Which nozzle sizes are compatible?Five diameters are available: 0.4 mm (standard), 0.6, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2 mm.
The choice depends on the desired surface finish, production speed, and mechanical strength of the final part. -
Which adhesion promoter should be used for each material?
Material Adhesion Promoter ABS Dimafix ACETATE 3DLac ASA-X Dimafix BVOH 3DLac HIPS Dimafix PA6 / PA6-CF 3DLac PC / PC-ABS Dimafix PETG 3DLac PLA 3DLac PP PP adhesive PVA 3DLac TPU98A 3DLac -
How do I correctly load filament?1. Cut the filament at an angle
2. Insert it into the guide up to the filament runout sensor
3. Activate heating
4. Use the Extrude button until filament exits the nozzle
Preheating & Calibration
-
Why is a 30-minute preheating time required? The internal build volume (600 × 420 × 500 mm) and heated enclosure require time for thermal homogenization.
Insufficient preheating may cause:- Warping
- Incorrect Z-offset
- Inaccurate calibrations
-
Do I need to recalibrate after each material change?Yes, if you change temperature ranges (e.g. PLA → ABS).
No, if you stay within the same material family (e.g. PLA → TPU with identical preheating conditions). -
Which types of calibration are available?
- Thermal model calibration
- Bed calibration (25 points)
- Z-offset adjustment for both IDEX printheads
- Independent X/Y calibration for each nozzle
Printing
-
How do I start a print?Select a file via the Print tab:
- From a USB flash drive
- From the internal storage list accessible over the network
-
The machine pauses automatically. Is this normal?Yes. Automatic pauses are triggered by:
- Filament runout
- Anomaly detection
- Door opening (optional)
-
What happens after a power outage? The machine restarts in a secure standby mode.
Depending on the configuration, print recovery may be proposed. -
My first layer does not adhere. What should I do?
- Check bed degreasing (isopropyl alcohol only)
- Ensure the correct adhesion promoter is used
- Redo the Z-offset calibration
- Check that the machine is properly preheated
- Ensure the enclosure remains closed during printing
Safety & Use
-
What happens if I open the door during printing?Behavior depends on the machine settings:
- Automatic pause
- Or a simple user warning
-
The machine gets very hot. Is this normal?Yes. The enclosure can reach 70°C, the nozzles up to 300°C, and the build plate up to 140°C.
Never touch hot components or insert your hand into the enclosure while the machine is operating.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
-
What should I do if a nozzle does not heat up?Check:
- That preheating is active
- The selected material
- Error messages displayed on the screen
- That no software update is in progress
-
How should I maintain the build plate? After each print:
- Remove parts once the bed is cold
- Remove any residue
- Clean with water
- Degrease using isopropyl alcohol
-
Filament runout detected while the spool is fullPossible causes:
- Filament not correctly routed through the sensor
- Broken filament inside the PTFE tube
- Sensor disabled in the settings
-
My part lifts during printingSolutions:
- Check preheating time
- Use the correct adhesion promoter
- Increase build plate temperature
- Close the enclosure
- Use a larger nozzle for ABS (0.6 or 0.8 mm)
